DID YOU KNOW...your gifts to the Aspirus Health Foundation help invest in health programs and services that advance health for people in our region? And, 100% of your donation directly supports the cause.

CHECK OUT some of the many ways the Foundation supports programs at Aspirus and in the region:

A few examples of how gifts of every size make a difference

  • $7 covers the cost of a bicycle helmet for a child whose parents cannot afford to purchase one.
  • $35 supports a family for one night at the Family House, $105 for three nights and $245 for one week.
  • $55 supports one day for a child with special needs to attend Rainbow’s End Day Camp, $275 supports one week.
  • $261 supports one night of room and board at our Hospice House.

Greatest Needs & Community Health

  • Community-based health, wellness, and safety activities and educational programs and projects that align with our mission, population health goals, or identified community health needs.
  • Initiatives focused on mental health and addiction through education, prevention and support.
  • Programs and scholarships to train our future health care workforce.

Breast Health

  • Helping to provide breast cancer patients with early detection, education, post-mastectomy items, and a navigator program at Aspirus Women’s Health; and funding a “Pink Hug” to provide emotional support and a token “hug” to women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Serving underinsured and underserved women by providing access to education, health screenings and interventions that prevent cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and help every woman achieve optimal health during life’s journey.

Cancer Care

  • Funding education and outreach materials and resources, as well as cancer screening programs and initiatives.
  • Helping to provide support services and comfort items that enhance patient experience during the curative process.
  • Providing cancer education and research and advancing excellent patient care and outcomes.

Child Health & Safety

  • Supporting programs, in collaboration with Safe Kids Wausau Area Coalition, to improve childhood safety initiatives such as: car seat, bicycle, home, pedestrian, medicine, water, and fire safety.
  • Helping to educate families on a broad spectrum of health and safety topics and equip them with safety items including: smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, cabinet locks, security gates, outlet covers and other safety products, booster seats, Pack N Plays, bike, ski and multi-sport helmets, and life jackets.

Compassion Clothing Closet

  • Providing a clothing closet at Aspirus to help patients in need of clothing upon discharge from Aspirus and to provide them with dignity as they return home to heal and regain their health.

Family House

  • Helping keep the lights on and the doors open for guests who stay at the Aspirus Family House by supporting costs that are essential to making this house a home.

Heart Care

  • Supporting patient care initiatives for people living with chronic heart and vascular diseases such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation and angina.
  • Providing educational programs and services to empower further generations to avoid the long-term consequences of heart and vascular disease.

Hospice & Palliative Care

  • Supporting the operations of the region’s premier hospice and palliative (comfort) care program including Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services’ Grief Center; all services are provided free or at a nominal charge.
  • Helping fund complementary therapy programs, as well as the existing respite garden, to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of residents, families and caregivers.
  • Providing room and board fees for two community care rooms at Aspirus Hospice House for patients with an identified need.

NICU & Birthing Center

  • Supporting the Anya Marie Jackson Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital to offer world-class care for the Wausau area’s most vulnerable patients.
  • Providing support to families who have experienced a miscarriage or the death of a newborn.

Rainbow’s End Day Camp for Children with Special Needs

  • Providing a week of fun & activity for campers with indoor and outdoor summer activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, horseback riding, and spending quality time with other other campers & counselors.
  • Teenage volunteers serve as camp counselors and experience life from the perspective of someone who doesn’t have the same abilities.

Reach Out and Read Program

  • Helping children develop healthy brains in their first five years of life by using books as tools during clinic visits to assess children’s cognitive development and teach parents about engaging with their child during the critical window of time when their brains are developing.
