Climate Crisis & Health Care

An estimated 10 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to our country’s health care system.

Last week, the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on preparing the nation’s health care sector for climate change and released a report providing an overview of U.S. health care’s role in the climate crisis, how this crisis impacts health care, and more.

Aspirus Health is committed to environmental sustainability. In June, Aspirus and 60 other health care organizations joined the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Care Sector Pledge, expressing our commitment to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and increasing our climate resilience.
