Sustainability Success Story: Reusable EKG Leads
The Aspirus Wausau Hospital Emergency Department team identified a sustainability project to replace its disposable 5-lead EKG cables with reusable ones. Watch ED Manager Stephanie Dulak talk about how looking at a department process with an eye toward sustainability can result in big wins.
The project enabled the ED to:
- Cut down on its landfill waste by around 14,400 pounds a year.
- Save $623.65 in annual landfill fees.
- Save $46,000 in supply costs a year.
- Receive less of the unnecessary packaging supplies come in.
- Avoid carbon emissions associated with transporting supplies for delivery or disposal.
