Memorial Day Murph raises over $500 for the Killed in Action Memorial in Medford

MEDFORD, Wis. – Memorial Day gives us a formal opportunity to honor and remember the fallen service men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country.

On Memorial Day this year, Aspirus and Raiders Committed sponsored the 2019 Memorial Day Murph in Medford. This fitness event mimics the workout routine of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who was killed in action in 2005. It’s a way to remember his sacrifice and the sacrifice of others like him.

The Murph took place at Aspirus Therapy & Fitness in Medford and was separated into competitive, non-competitive, single and team divisions. The challenge started with a one-mile run; followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats; and ended with another one-mile run.

Despite the rain and cold over 50 people participated in this fun and challenging event. The Memorial Day Murph raised $520 for the Killed in Action Memorial being constructed at the Flag Field in the Medford City Park.
