Dialysis center in Medford recognized for a decade of patient safety

For the tenth year in a row, the Renal Network of the Upper Midwest recognized Aspirus Medford Hospital’s Kidney Care Center as a 5-Diamond Patient Safety Facility. This 5-Diamond status is granted to dialysis centers that put patients first by making sure staff and patients know and use the principles of patient safety at all times.

This Aspirus dialysis center received an additional 5-Diamond status for extraordinary safety measures implemented in response to COVID-19.

“The 5-Diamond program assists us in improving both staff and patient awareness of specific patient safety areas, promoting patient safety values and building a culture of safety. This year staff completed an additional module providing educational awareness around COVID-19,” said Haley Erl, Manager – Aspirus Medford Kidney Care.

To maintain 5-Diamond distinction, the Kidney Care Center requires staff and patients to complete a series of lessons meant to improve awareness of patient safety issues and to teach and/or reinforce the safety techniques that protect patients.
