Aspirus Keweenaw adds recycling dumpster
On December 2, Aspirus Keweenaw took its biggest step yet in its recycling journey, adding a recycling dumpster.
Maintenance and Environmental Services staff can now walk right outside Aspirus Keweenaw’s doors to empty the cafeteria recycling bin and the bags of plastic pill bottles from the pharmacy. Previously, they needed to drive these recyclables to the recycling facility in Houghton and pay the recycling fee per carload. The dumpster’s presence helps save time and money while cutting down on emissions related to driving to and from the recycling facility.
Environmental Services Supervisor Mike Loukus was key to getting the dumpster placed at Aspirus Keweenaw after years of obstacles.
