Aspirus adjusts pharmacy hours for vulnerable residents

Aspirus pharmacies in Laurium and Houghton are adjusting their hours to meet the needs of area residents and support the recent executive order by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The order, effective Sunday, April 26, requires Michigan grocery stores and pharmacies to provide a minimum of two hours per week of dedicated shopping time for vulnerable populations.

Aspirus is now providing dedicated shopping hours, from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday for those identified in the governor’s order. These are temporary measures to help prevent possible exposure and spread of the COVID-19 virus.

According to Gov. Whitmer’s executive order, vulnerable populations include people over 60, pregnant women, and those with chronic conditions including heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease.

Regular Aspirus pharmacy hours in Laurium are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday. Pharmacy hours at the Aspirus Houghton Clinic are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The community is reminded that everyone who enters an Aspirus facility is required to wear a face mask. Cloth face masks are acceptable. Patients and visitors who have their own face mask are asked to wear it. Those who do not have a face mask will be provided one. Screening at the entrance also continues for all patients, employees and visitors.
