Carlson GI Providers Join Aspirus

Aspirus is pleased to welcome the gastroenterology professionals of Carlson GI Clinic. Effective January 1, 2017, Gastroenterologist Joel Carlson, MD and Nurse Practitioner Nadine Klesmith, FNP-BC have joined Aspirus Clinics.

Dr. Carlson and Klesmith care for patients under the new name of Aspirus Gastroenterology at their previous clinic location, located just inside the main entrance of Aspirus Riverview Hospital, 410 Dewey Street, Wisconsin Rapids. Appointments may be scheduled by calling their previous phone number, 715-421-1001.

Diagnostic services performed by Aspirus Gastroenterology include: colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, fecal transplant for relapsing C. diff infection, flexible sigmoidoscopy, PillCam examination of the small bowel, and colorectal cancer screening. Conditions treated include: heartburn, acid reflux, Barrett’s esophagus, swallowing problems, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and other gastrointestinal-related conditions.

The first gastroenterologist to join Aspirus Clinics, Dr. Carlson is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, and earned his medical degree at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Carlson is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Wisconsin Medical Society and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Nadine Klesmith, FNP-BC is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, and a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
