About this Location

Aspirus Memory Clinic is located in the Plaza Drive Clinics building on the Aspirus Wausau Hospital campus. Patients and visitors should use clinics/walk-in entrance on the hospital campus.

The Aspirus Memory Clinic targets its services to older adults in the north central Wisconsin area who are experiencing memory difficulties which may be the result of Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia.

An important aspect of our care is assessing the needs of the families and caregivers, and linking them with the community support services that will help them deal with the diagnosis, and with immediate and future needs. The clinic is staffed by a physician, a nurse practitioner, and a social worker. We are also thankful to have the Greater Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and the Aging and Disability Resource Center working with us as a close consultant to provide ongoing support and education for patients, families and caregivers, and the clinic staff.

The Aspirus Memory Clinic is affiliated with the UW-Madison Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute (WAI), and its network of 37 Memory Clinics throughout the state. WAI is the largest and most comprehensive network of its kind in the nation, and provides our staff with ready access to the latest in dementia research and practice. As part of the Aspirus health care system, we also have access to the resources of a comprehensive network of physicians, clinics, hospitals and home care agencies to help us provide you with contemporary, cost-effective care.

The clinic provides a comprehensive assessment of the patient including a complete physical exam and health history, a psycho-social evaluation, and neurobehavioral testing to help determine the diagnosis and etiology of the patient's presenting problems. Patients, families, and caregivers will be linked with appropriate medical and support services in the community. The patient's primary care provider will be provided a complete assessment report with treatment recommendations.

If you have concerns about a loved one or yourself, talk with your healthcare provider about those concerns.  He or she will help you decide if an evaluation at the Aspirus Memory Clinic is appropriate.

Appointments can be made via:

  • Referral from a patient’s primary care physician
  • Referral from a patient caregiver
  • Patients who are concerned about their own memory issues

Patients, as well as family members, are encouraged to contact the Memory Clinic directly to discuss any memory issues or concerns, and to help determine if an evaluation with Memory Clinic staff would be beneficial.
