If you need space for quiet, prayer or meditation, the chapel is located on the hospital's first floor. Please ask a staff member for directions. The chapel is open at any time to patients and loved ones.

• Hot, nutritious meals are delivered at noon to your home Monday through Friday
  
• All special diet needs can be accommodated
• Meals are prepared by the caring staff of Aspirus Riverview’s Food & Nutrition Services Department
• Meals are delivered to your home by Home Delivered Meals volunteers
• Noon meals include: meat, vegetable, potato or potato substitute, salad and/or dessert, milk, bread and margarine

Registered dietitians are also available by appointment to discuss the individual nutrition needs of patients who are no longer in the hospital. To learn more about our outpatient nutrition services and educational programs, call 715-421-7566.

• Menu choices for patients and guests with special nutrition needs are available, and we take great pride in meeting special dietary requests.
• Room service is offered to our patients. Meals may be delivered at a time convenient to the patient by calling the Food & Nutrition Services Department.
• Guest meals are available for purchase and delivery to patient rooms.
• Guests may also dine in the Water’s Edge Dining Room (on the main medical building’s lower level).
• Vending areas are located throughout Aspirus Riverview Hospital.
• Home Delivered Meals can be arranged for, if needed, upon the patient’s discharge.

Aspirus Riverview wants everyone who uses medications and household sharps (syringes, needles and lancets) to dispose of them safely, legally and at no cost.

Medication Disposal
It is important to dispose of unused medications properly to avoid harm to others.

Medications are collected during business hours at the Marshfield, Nekoosa, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rome, Grand Rapids and Wisconsin Rapids police departments and at the Wood County Sheriff's Department. Sharps Disposal
Sharps are often mixed in with household garbage or flushed down the toilet. These disposal methods pose serious risks to family members and sanitation workers in the form of accidental sticks.

Aspirus Riverview's Sharps Smart community syringe disposal service provides three convenient locations to dispose of household sharps at no cost. (Sharps used by farms and businesses are not accepted.)

• Emergency entrance of Aspirus Riverview Hospital, 410 Dewey Street, Wisconsin Rapids (Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year)
• Aspirus Riverview Clinic Nekoosa, 1015 Angelus Drive, Nekoosa (Open weekdays, 8 am to 5 pm.)
  
• Lobby of Aspirus Doctors Clinic, 2031 Peach Street, Wisconsin Rapids (Open weekdays 7 am to 7 pm and weekends/holidays 8 am to 1 pm.)

To use one of Aspirus Riverview's Sharps Smart community syringe-disposal centers:

1. Place sharps in a commercial sharps container or empty plastic laundry detergent bottle with a screw-on cap. If using a laundry detergent bottle, securely seal the cap with strong, heavy tape. To fit in the Sharps Smart cart, the bottle’s capacity must be 100 ounces or less.
• Do not use coffee or other steel cans; glass bottles or jars; aluminum cans; plastic tubs, buckets, milk jugs, soda bottles or bags.
• Do not bend or break sharps or recap sharps, unless instructed otherwise by a health care professional.
2. Take your sealed container to a Sharps Smart community syringe-disposal center.
3. Attach a biohazard label (available at the Sharps Smart community syringe disposal center) to your sealed container, and drop the container into the Sharps Smart cart.
4. Take home a biohazard label for use on your next sharps disposal container.
5. For individuals unable to use this service, please contact your local pharmacy or sanitation department to find out about other sharps disposal options available to you.

Sharps Smart is funded by Aspirus Riverview Foundation and the voluntary donations of those who use or support the program.

At Aspirus Riverview Hospital, we respect the unique spiritual and religious beliefs of each patient and their loved ones. Spiritual support services are offered to people of all traditions, cultures and beliefs, regardless of affiliation with a particular denominational group or of having no affiliation.

Aspirus Riverview welcomes and encourages visits from patients’ home spiritual leaders or clergy. With your preference and consent upon registration, or by request at any other time, they will be notified of your hospitalization. Provision or facilitation of sacramental needs, such as communion, baptism and anointing of the sick are also available.

What is Spiritual Support?
In times of recovery, uncertainty, distress or transition, spiritual support provides and facilitates a compassionate response that will foster connection and hope, promote healing, and contribute to one's overall well-being.

Spiritual support may help you when you:

• Are fearful, anxious or feeling low and need someone to talk with
• Struggle to find meaning in illness
• Are distressed by difficult circumstances apart from medical conditions
• Have no nearby family or friends to be with you
• Are preparing for surgery, chemotherapy or other procedures
• Have suffered a loss, are grieving or bereaved
• Would like to talk through treatment choices or goals of care
• Would like a blessing, prayer or other comfort from a familiar tradition
• Have a new diagnosis
• Are facing dying, death or crisis

Clergy or spiritual leaders may work with patients and their families to:

• Assist in working through spiritual and emotional struggles
• Uplift, affirm and facilitate spiritual or religious supports and connections
• Engage in the search for hope or meaning
• Provide prayer and ritual
• Listen to concerns and life reflection
• Support those without close ones or a congregation nearby
• Provide a calming presence amid turmoil and uncertainty
