Hospital Registration / Scheduling
The Aspirus Wausau Hospital Patient Registration department is responsible for the pre-registration of tests and procedures, patient insurance verification and central scheduling of certain tests and procedures.
Pre-Registration
Pre-registration is completed prior to the date of your services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in order to expedite your check in the day of your test or procedure. Pre-registration is completed via phone or in person and involves gathering complete and accurate patient and financial (insurance) information.

Insurance Verification
Insurance verification is a process used by Patient Registration to identify and process payment with a patient’s insurance company for elective and urgent, scheduled and non-scheduled procedures. Our verification staff will attempt to contact patient’s insurance company to verify insurance coverage and policy requirements and, if required, will pre-certify for authorization of procedure or stay.

Pre-certification / Pre-authorization:
Pre-certification or pre-authorization is required by many insurance companies and can vary by procedure or test. Patients or a family member should check with their insurance company prior to admission for a test or procedure.
What if insurance denies coverage?
Insurance verification staff will notify you and/or your physician’s office of non-coverage.

Central scheduling is a centralized area within Aspirus Wausau Hospital that schedules diagnostic testing and surgical procedures.

How does my test or procedure get scheduled?
Your physician’s office will call to schedule any test or procedure your physician may order for you.
Can patients schedule their own tests?
Routine mammograms are the only diagnostic test that can be scheduled direct by patient once a year without a physician’s order. For more information, see Mammography.
How do I obtain my surgery time?
Central Scheduling or Day Surgery Plus will contact surgical patients after 2 p.m. the day prior to a scheduled surgical procedure.
