When a patient is determined to be a trauma patient, the EMS will transport that person to the nearest trauma center, bypassing closer hospitals that are not trauma centers or are at a lower level.  There are several factors  involved in the decison of where to take a patient, including the severity of the injury and the need for immediate treatment.

A trauma center is not only an emergency department, but also an accredited facility capable of highly specialized and timely treatment for the most critical of injuries.  Our entire hospital staff is committed to delivering the highest level of trauma care.

Our trauma team is led by Medical Director of Trauma Services, Jennine L. Larson , a board-certified surgeon, who is critical care fellowship trained, and an ACS Associate Fellow.
