Aspirus Health Foundation

The Aspirus Health Foundation raises money for various health related initiatives in the community and within Aspirus. In addition to raising money and receiving community gifts, the Foundation also determines the best way to utilize its resources to make the biggest impact on the community.

Recent Gifts

Athens Youths

Crusaders for Christ, a youth group from Trinity Lutheran Church in Athens, raised $1,900 during its annual Cancer Walk on July 31, 2009. The youth group donated the funds to the Aspirus Health Foundation, which used the gift to provide patients at the Aspirus Regional Cancer Center with educational videos, pamphlets, books and other resources.
Edgewood Archers

The Edgewood Archers, an archery club in Merrill holds an annual event to honor their late friend and raise money for a good cause. In 2009, the 16th Annual Bill Schuster Memorial Shoot attracted about 200 people and part of the proceeds were donated to the Aspirus Health Foundation to benefit Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Golf Classic

The 4th Annual Aspirus Women's Health Golf Classic raised $78,500 to support the development of a comprehensive women's heart health program, which will provide education to help women recognize, act and reduce their risk for heart disease, gender-specific care management and research opportunities to further the emerging science of women's heart health.
Some of the projects we have partnered to support include:

  • Scholarships to expand the health care workforce through Northcentral Technical College and UW Marathon County

  • Regional health education and screening programs in cardiac, cancer, women's health, pediatrics, and colorectal cancer

  • Nutrition services for the elderly

  • Education programs on suicide prevention, alcohol and drug abuse, and tobacco reduction for adults and youth

  • Prenatal care for women

  • Summer camp for special needs children

  • Safety information and equipment for newborns and children 

The Foundation also supports and invests in programs that more directly support:

  • Aspirus Wausau Hospital

  • Aspirus Heart and Vascular Institute & CaRE Research Foundation

  • Aspirus Regional Cancer Center 

  • UW Family Medicine Residency

  • Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services

  • Aspirus Women's Health
