Aspirus Bariatrics

Support After Surgery

In addition to a significant physical transformation, emotional and social changes are often associated with extreme weight loss. To help you through this journey, Aspirus Bariatrics provides a monthly bariatric support group called ALOHA.

ALOHA, which stands for A Lifetime of Healthy Achievement, is a bariatric support group that is open to people who have already had surgery and to those who are still considering it. Family members and friends are also welcome. Support group members work together to help each other on the journey that weight loss surgery takes us.

Our support group is facilitated by a certified Bariatric Support Group Leader and Success Habits Instructor, as well as a registered and certified dietitian.

Support group meetings are at no-cost to patients of Aspirus Bariatrics and our surgeons Dr. Robert Brebrick, Dr. Christopher Reising and Dr. Steven Weiland.

Everyone is welcome to attend. However, as of November 1st, 2011 there will be a $25.00 lifetime membership fee to attend support group for all other participants.

Even if you attend a bariatric support group, it is important for patients to continue to work with their primary care physician, surgeon, nutrition specialists, and sometimes psychologist, to manage the ongoing change.
