- Aspirus Connected - Laptops & recorders available for patients

Patients at Aspirus Wausau Hospital can stay connected with family and loved ones easier than ever thanks to Aspirus Connected.
Aspirus Connected is a service funded by the Aspirus Volunteers that allows patients to checkout a laptop or digital tape recorder to help stay connected when they are hospitalized. The laptops are equipped with Skype technology, allowing patients to utilize the hospital’s guest wireless to video chat with friends and family right in their rooms.
The digital recorders can be used by patients to record stories or thoughts just to pass the time, or to keep for future use to remember their experience.
The laptops and voice recorders can be checked out at the reception desk at the main (west)entrance of the hospital for two hours at a time and are available seven days a week. Check availability by calling extension 72937.
- Cafeteria & Express Cafe

Hot meals, salad bar, beverages and snacks are available at our hospital cafeteria located in the lower level of the hospital. It is open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Express Cafe, located on the first floor of the hospital near the lobby, is open Monday through Friday 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here you will find soups, pizzas and deli sandwiches, made to order.
Vending machines are also located at the cafeteria and in the main lobby.
- Concerns or Complaints

To ensure we are meeting all your needs, we have designated a patient representatives at all Aspirus entities. Additional resources may include a financial counselor, privacy officer, and/or a medical ethics committee.
A patient representative is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- For Aspirus Clinics, contact the Clinic Manager at your doctor’s office.
- For Aspirus Wausau Hospital, contact the Patient Representative at 715-847-2275. After 4:30 p.m. and on weekends you may call 847-2121 and ask to have the House Supervisor paged.
- For Aspirus VNA Home Health, contact the Team Leader at your local VNA office.

- Escort Assistance

Aspirus Volunteers and Certified Nursing Assistants are available to escort patients to testing areas or hospital rooms. If you would like an escort, please check with the front desk in the main lobby.
- General Information

General information is available at the front desk in the main lobby of the hospital. Whether you need directions or have a question, please don’t hesitate to ask.
- Gift Shop
-
If you are in need of a gift for your special one, the Aspirus Volunteers’ Gift Shop offers a wonderful and unique selection of gifts, flowers, chocolates and cards. The Gift Shop is located in the west side main lobby. It is open Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.
- Interpreter Services & Hearing Impaired

Aspirus Wausau Hospital offers free interpreter services to assist patients and families more comfortable with a language other than English in communicating with our staff. Please make arrangements by calling Aspirus Wausau Hospital at (715) 847-2444 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

- Lodging

Brochures on lodging and facilities have been prepared to assist patients and families in arranging accommodations. A reduced rate guest housing arrangement with a nearby hotel is available for patients of Aspirus Wausau Hospital and their families. A free shuttle service to the hospital is available. - Lost & Found

The hospital’s Security keeps lost items. You may check with the front desk located in the hospital lobby they can call Security to check on lost items.
- Medical Equipment (Purchase)

Medical equipment is available at Aspirus Home Medical Equipment located in the Aspirus Wausau Hospital main lobby. Aspirus Home Medical Equipment is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Medication Mondays
-
Medication Mondays is a free community service designed to help adults self-administer medications and help prevent medication errors in the home. Aspirus Wausau Hospital offers Medication Mondays on the third Monday of each month. This free program allows people to meet with Aspirus Pharmacy staff for one-on-one medication consultations to get a better understanding of the medications they need to take. Where: Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Volunteer Services Conference Room (near main entrance).

A beautifully landscaped garden located near the Aspirus Wausau Hospital cafeteria (in the lower level) provides a pleasant, calming spot for patients and visitors to relax.
- Pastoral Services

Aspirus Wausau Hospital’s pastoral services are available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to provide spiritual support for patients and their families. To contact one of our pastoral care representatives, please call (715) 847-2940 (after hours dial operator 0).
- Parking & Shuttle

Parking is available. A free shuttle is available from 7:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Patient Financial Services & Price Quotes

This office assists patients in understanding hospital and physicians’ bills, Medicare benefits, filing health insurance claims, and Medicare appeals. Price quotes for elective hospital procedures are available upon request. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For an appointment or information, please call (715) 847-2333.
- Pharmacy

For the convenience of our patients, a pharmacy is located at the Aspirus Clinics lobby. Please call 715.847.2547 to contact the pharmacy. Prescriptions from your physician can be filled at the pharmacy from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday through Friday. The inpatient pharmacy is open 24 hours a day, 7-days a week and can be reached at 715.847.2871. Outpatient prescriptions can be filled at the inpatient counter after-hours.
- Physician Referral Service

The Aspirus Information Center provides physician referral services. For assistance in finding a physician see our online physician database or call (715) 847-2380 or 1-800-847-4707.
- Security

Your safety is of utmost important to us. Uniformed security guards are on duty 7 days a week, 24-hours a day, supplemented by closed-circuit television monitoring in main throughways and parking lots.
- Social Workers & Discharge Planners
-
Social workers are available for patients and their families to provide assistance with practical and emotional matters. Discharge planners work with patients, their families and physicians to coordinate post-hospital continuity of care. Social workers and discharge planners are assigned to patients on each nursing unit and may be contacted through the hospital operators. (715) 847-2121.
- Support Groups

The Aspirus Information Center can assist patients in accessing support groups in the Wausau area. Pay phones are located in the main lobby, to the north of the main entrance near the vending machines. Pay phones can also be found at the hospital cafeteria, near the vending machines.
- Thoughtful Thursdays/Advanced Directives

On the first Thursday of each month, the Aspirus Wausau Hospital staff and volunteers offer free clinics to assist in completing Advanced Directives, or to simply ask questions. To schedule an appointment, please contact the Aspirus Information Center at (715) 847-2380. Or, you may review the materials and print out the forms online at Advance Directives.
- Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are available for use in the hospital. If you need a wheelchair, please ask the information desk at the main entrance of the hospital. Staff is also available to assist you in getting to your destination.
- Volunteers

The Aspirus Volunteers consist of over 850 women and men that work in various areas of the hospital, in homes, or on fundraising projects. Click here for more information.
