New Knowledge Groups
Aspirus Wausau Hospital’s Nursing Research Council hosts house-wide new knowledge groups three to four times a year. The purpose of these groups is to explore current nursing research as evidence of the best practice in caring for our patients and/or creating a safe healthy environment for our patients.
The groups are presented as an educational offering to all interested staff, complete with contact hours. Topics of interest to a wide variety of staff, regardless of clinical area are selected. Topics may be clinical or non-clinical, and some previous topics, include: IV therapy; how long does it take to get a pressure ulcer; and lateral violence.
The goal of each presentation, or group, is to discuss the topic, and also review a current research article for type and quality of the research, and applicability to practice. Several individual departments also are doing new knowledge groups.
