Free community program on advance directives on June 1
May 15, 2013
WAUSAU, Wis. – Aspirus Wausau Hospital is hosting a community program on June 1 for people who want to learn more about making important health care choices.
The program, called “Having that Conversation… (No, Not the Birds and Bees),” focuses on preparing advance directives to plan your health care before an emergency occurs. It starts at 10 a.m. in the Medallion Room, located just inside the main entrance of Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
An advance directive is a document that allows you to appoint someone to make your health care decisions for you if you become unable to make decisions for yourself.
The program will highlight real stories that demonstrate the importance of having an advance directive and will also cover:
- Several decisions needed to complete an advance directive.
- Procedures and costs of legal guardianship presented by an attorney.
- Tips for starting the conversation with loved ones.
This is a free program, but registration in advance is required. To register, call the Aspirus Information Center at 715.847.2380 or 800.847.4707.
You can also call the Aspirus Information Center to schedule an appointment or learn more about Aspirus’ Thoughtful Thursdays program, which is offered on the first Thursday of each month. This program is a free, half-hour appointment with a trained health care professional who can help you complete your advance directive or answer any questions you may have.
