Free Car seat check event on Saturday

Feb 14, 2013

WAUSAU, Wis. – The Safe Kids Wausau Area Coalition is offering a free car seat check event at Yach’s Body and Custom in Wausau on Saturday.

The event runs from 9 a.m.-noon and allows caregivers to have their car seats inspected and properly installed in their vehicles at no charge to the participant. Results from previous safety seat checks have shown that four out of five car seats are used incorrectly. Participants are asked to bring their children along when having their car seats checked.

Safe Kids is currently holding a four-day National Child Passenger Safety Certification Course through Feb. 16. The newly certified technicians from this course will be on hand at Saturday’s event to help with car seat installations.

In addition to Saturday’s event, Safe Kids holds monthly car seat checks on the third Wednesday of each month at Yach’s, which is located at 906 Tulip Lane. These events are held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Caregivers also can setup a one-on-one appointment at Aspirus Wausau Hospital by calling Michelle Armstrong at 715.847.2864 or the Aspirus Children’s Safety Center at 715.847.2206.
