WAUSAU, Wis. – Starting Sept. 10, Aspirus Wausau Hospital will begin work on a building addition on the east side of its campus to expand and update surgical suites.

The construction project is expected to take about 15 months and will affect access to some public entrances of the hospital.

Beginning Friday, Sept. 7, patients and visitors will no longer be able to use the southeast entrance to the Aspirus Women’s Health Birthing Center. During construction, birthing center visitors will need to use the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) entrance on the south end of the hospital campus, next to the Aspirus Clinics on Plaza Drive.

Parking on the southeast side of the hospital will be reduced. Anyone visiting the birthing center during this time should park in the Aspirus Clinics parking lot on Plaza Drive and use the NICU entrance.

Cardiac Rehab patients also will be affected, and their entrance will be relocated just south of the current birthing center entrance on the same side of the hospital. Special parking will be designated for these patients on the southeast side of Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Interior and exterior signs will be updated throughout the Aspirus Wausau Hospital campus to help patients and visitors get to these newly designated entrances.
