Magnet Nursing

Magnet Nursing

When Aspirus Wausau Hospital became the first Magnet hospital in the region on February 14, 2005, it received the gold standard for patient care and one of the highest honors a hospital can receive.

Magnet application involves a comprehensive written application, highlighting the hospital’s outstanding quality of care, teamwork, patient outcomes, investment in staff development, progressive leadership, and research initiatives. This is followed by a site visit spanning several days, during which representatives of the American Nurses Credentialing Center personally inspect the organization.

Much like gold-medal athletes, who know all eyes are on them, Aspirus staff, physicians, and volunteers feel that same sense of expectation, from those outside of the hospital, from colleagues within, and from within each individual.  Aspirus’ Magnet status is not carried like a trophy, but rather worn as an indelible brand, a reminder of our promise to deliver excellent, compassionate care.

Every member of the Aspirus Wausau Hospital family contributes to this culture of excellence and has reason to be proud to be a part of one the best hospitals in the nation. The real winners are the patients, who every day receive the best care and enjoy outstanding clinical outcomes in the region’s best hospital.
