The session, called "Telling My Story With Diabetes,” features guest speaker Kammi Bean, who will share her story about living with Type 1 diabetes since age 11 and learning to manage it. Bean will discuss how she remembers crying outside the doctor’s office with her mother the day she was diagnosed, thinking her life would never be the same. She also will talk about how, with the support of her family, she learned that she could continue living her life.

This event runs from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Aspirus Medical Education Center, located at 425 Wind Ridge Drive, just east of Aspirus Wausau Hospital. All parents, children, teachers and community members interested in learning more about Type 1 diabetes are encouraged to attend.

This educational session is free to attend, but registration is requested by calling the Aspirus Information Center at 715.847.2380 by November 5. Healthy snacks will be provided and attendees will be entered into a special door prize drawing.

This event is sponsored by the Aspirus Health Foundation, Aspirus Clinics and Aspirus Diabetes Education Center/Nutrition Counseling Center. It is supported by local school district partners and funding is provided by the EO Johnson Charitable Legacy Fund through the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin.
